Validation

Before starting the class, let’s make sure if things are up and running as they should.

Prerequisites

Make sure you are logged in to your attendee VM or any other valid Docker environment.

Exercise - Help and Options

Open your terminal application and run the plain docker command in order to display a generic help message and available options:

docker

Exercise - Version

To get some information about the version of your Docker installation run:

docker -v

Which version of Docker are you running?

Solution

It depends on your installation. Your output should look similar to this:

$ docker -v
Docker version 24.0.7, build afdd53b

Exercise - Info

In order to display generic docker environment information enter:

docker info

Have a look at the information that the previous command gave to you.

Expected result

This command displays system wide information regarding the Docker installation. Information displayed includes the kernel version, number of containers and images.

It should look similar to this:

$ docker info
